And I watch Sgt. Kirk's vids, and as you know I'm a true Gallente loyalist! I have all 5 Gallente dropsuit, all four Gallente weapons, and I traded in my tank for extra suits and weapons....
And there in lies my problem?!
You may have seem some of my post battling for balance with CCP on suit's and weapons. I have run tons of test, argued with mercs, and have challenged them to run Gallente gear.
In my opinion the Gallente dropsuits are great! Neither OP nor UP against other dropsuits. The dropsuit racial bonuses are awesome for my style of CQC combat! I love to hack, firefight from cover, breach, get dropped off, and just really get in a fight every match! The high repair rate of the Gallente is awesome on each suit!
The Gal scout is the king scout to me, and just yesterday I found myself giving out fit info here that made others look at the Gal scout in a different light.
The Gal sentinel is fast, and reps fast on it's own allowing for hit and run tactics with an hmg, but leaving enough tank to stand and deliver massive punishment!
The Gal assault, to me, is the gunslinger of eve! M4 and a glock comes to mind when you got the AR and Ion Pistol equipped!
The Gal Commando! Awesome! Bringing the noise to your bunker all day!!
The Gal logistics serves as recon, intel, and fighter! Like the Gal assault with glasses!
With the weapons are where my issues lie?!
I figured I'd talk to you since trying to talk to CCP seems pointless. You, who wrote quite a monologue on the Gallente race, suit's, and bonuses, Arkena! Sgt. Kirk, you put the these same principles to use on the ground!
I feel the Assault rifle is outclassed and needs a buff, but of what sort has been debated here in GD countless times. The consensus seems to be it needs a buff, but everyone is afraid of CCP making it too strong.... cuz the scrambler isn't OP at all..... my poor armor being shredded by this shield weapon comes to mind?!
In your opinion how do we fix this weapon?
Right now I can stick a CR, ASCR, or ARR on a Gallente assault, and perform much better than with an AR with a bonus?! This shouldn't be the case at all!
1. I think the variants should be looked at separately as they are all unique, and I also think the burst and tactical variants should switch places, in order of being unlocked, with their automatic counterparts. The breach and assault variants should be lvl 4 unlocks since they are actually better rifles.
2. The breach shotgun should fire just as fast as the standard making a player speccing into shotgun reload very rewarding!
3. A look into the tactical variant, in my opinion, is needed. I play with a regular Sony ps3 controller so the kick is like a mule on steroids! Instead, give it, and all the other variants, an overheat mechanic in place of recoil. To counter modded controller use I think fire rates on ALL weapons should be regulated. I'm not a fan of modding at all, and feel real skill is the only skill in gaming.
4. The Ion Pistol should be able to fire after a charge the way the scrambler does! It should in fact operate like a scrambler rifle when it comes to it's fire mechanics. I'm fine with it as it is now though. The rate of fire is amazing!
With the different variants of AR the changes need to be specific.
Tactical AR less kick. Assault more dmg Breach more ammo Burst is actually fine, but if your lagging it's useless?! (The fact that the burst and tactical are never used in PC comes to mind)
All need a bonus to close quarter dmg! In fact that could be the new assault bonus! A bonus to close quarter dmg rewarding Gallente assaults for fighting in CQC, or closing the distance on the enemy. It wouldn't require more range if this was implemented, and would also make it worth actually using the weapon over other rifles for it's bonus!
The issue with this is in this game you never wanna give a suit too many opportunities for more than normal dmg as it becomes the fotm. So I think if we keep the range short it serves as a counter to the CQC dmg. Another suggestion was the change to proficiency bonus per lvl from 3% to shields, and make it 2% shields and 1% armor. The reason is quite simple!
CQC 101!
1.Everything is in trying to kill you!
In close quarters in this game you, as a Gallente fighter often stand in the way of victory. You hold points, stop attacks, and deal crippling dmg!.... (well... we're trying to get to that) You rep fast, run fast, and fire faster!
The downside is, you're generally in range of everything?! Should a weapon that is indeed in range of everything be under performing, suffering from bad hit detection or kicking like an angry bull? Since you're in range of shield and armor suit's alike. Shouldn't you deal dmg to both almost equally?
2.Situational awareness is key! Keeping your head on the swivel in CQC is critical! Have you seen Sgt. Kirk play? Also, Gallente use scanners and precision to take advantage of the tacnet in order to judge surrounding. This is where I ask CCP for a faster reload on rifles since CQC breeds multiple targets constantly! Not CR reload speed, but a little faster on AR and Ion Pistol reload. The Gallente is the "gunslinger" of the Eve universe, and freedom crusader!
3.Take cover first! To benefit from the Gallente reps, when I'm shot at I tend to locate cover first! Then return fire. The jumpy mass driver ruins that plan.... often...( P.F.T.C.- please fix jump mods!)
4.Look for a buddy! Simply put, bring the enemy to your heavy! You're fighting in CQC... there's a good chance there's a friendly heavy around.... I hope...
So, I hear CCP may in fact be looking at buffing the AR in some way. Great, but my concern is they blanket buff all, which doesn't need to happen?!
Any input, both for and against, is always appreciated! Bring it on sincerely yaw!

what you are really asking for is a rework, you dont like that the weapon has a short range and you think that should change or keep the range and buff the damge even tho it already shreds trough shields like it was designed to do
I use the AR far more then I do the RR or ARR as I fiend it to be the beast CQC weapon as well as the best weapon to react and hip fire with as it doesn't have any major downfalls other then range and anything else can easily be negated by skill player and sp wise
now dont get me wrong I know that its not OP god mode in CQC and that it does lack some power against armor (like it is supposed to) but that only lies in fault because of the current meta that prefers armor users and armor weapons even including the SCR as it was balanced against armor when it was revised whcih is why it does insane amounts to shields even after the nerf
I think you need to put this thread off until you see the proposed changes each rifle is supposed to get its respective scope and this in itself should solve many of the range issues many players have as 40m isnt that bad considering its meant for CQC and with the gal bonus and the weapons skill to reduce dispersion it easily becomes the best marksmen rifle rewarding those with good aim
If anything I would say to change the profile so that it does slightly more to armor but with the trade off of doing less to shields, this however would impact all gall weaponry making it somewhat unfair for other weapons such as the PLC and shotgun
now about the breach SG it does not need any unresonable buff as it is already presumably OP in the right hands as it can kill many suits especially when skilled into in a single hit and that's without considering head shot damge any buff would mandate a nerf to another aspect, faster RoF would mandate slower reloads and vice versa to keep it in check- again this is another weapon that rewards aim

Until we squad up, and I see you run the Gallente assault w/AR, I will not believe you when you say the AR is good, ok, or alright?!
You're arguments are strictly about the rifles, bonuses, and dmg profiles. Often leaving out dropsuit, environments, and battle situations.... the most important part!
There's a reason why the ARR works better on all suit's with no bonus, than their actual respective rifles do. The dmg is uninterrupted at 0 to 72 meters!! It's hitting at 100% effectiveness from 0 to 72 meters! It's a long range, armor based, weapon that DOES NOT lose effectiveness or DMG as it gets closer to targets.
So when I try to close the distance with an AR, or the ARR closes the distance on me.... the proof is in the stats I'm sure.
Please also consider that the Gallente assault, and other Gallente dropsuits, are repair based! NOT armor based! Many mercs get this confused because the Gallente are stronger armor suit's than shield. Any veteran Gallentean will testify that the bulk of those low slots are used for reps, speed, and Ewar! Nor armor stacking?!
To the point of the environmental and situational aspects of the battle. This plays a strong role in the use of the weapon, and the survival ability of the dropsuits themselves!
In CQC multiple shooters are firing at you Constantly! CQC in this game is THE POINT PANELS! Where everyone wants to control! So all guns are pointing to it. As a Gallente fighter you must 1st get to CQC, with a short range weapon (which is fine), and then protect small boxes against the guantlet while every other suit and rifle sends hellstorms of dmg from longer ranges and angles?
With every target you have to first close the distance! Every single one! With the RR and SCR you generally fire from where you are knowing full well at a minimum the AR can't hit you. It's really that simple. If you do get into a 1v1 with and AR user you simply deal more dmg when he finally gets there, and during his venture to close the distance you bang out the same dmg at range!
This is what I mean by completely outclassed!
There's too many situations to name, but most end in me being outnumbered, overrun, and flank from ranges I can't retaliate from?! With not enough cover, and no where to run.
Run the fit, and you'll understand. In fact, just watch Sgt. Kirk run it, and watch as he almost always dies outnumbered and overrun.

This is the mentality of players currently. Most of the "scans are OP" complaints come from slayers who have been getting spotted more, and players tend to overwhelm them when they are seen. Makes their kd lower so scanners should be crucified in their opinion.
What you're probably not seeing much of is suggestions to fix and balance the scanner. Only "I don't wanna be scanned"?!
They don't wanna lose speed trying to dampen their fits, which would get them under all but proto scans.
The gal logi should be limited to the amount of scanners it can can carry! Two of any type, and not the same two. Now I'm a gal logi, and I'm completely reasonable and willing to sacrifice for the greater good of the game.....

We've literally have commented in multiple threads suggesting proper balances to equal out the Semi-auto Scr, its people who believe that the RoF should be nerf to sh+»t that don't comply to reasonable changes that keep on spouting the same crap. Just look at what happened to the ScP to see what a 450 would do to a weapon especially since people seem to forget that the TAR has the same RoF as the ScR but oooh no all Gallente weapons are UP! No just your Assault Rifle buddy.
The assault scrambler didn't need a buff, the scrambler was/is OP. When the assault got buffed everyone kinda went ".... ok, we'll see how this goes".
450 fire rate is absurd lol! You must remember that some want balance, and some are just being synical?!
Those modded are really screwing us both because they erase recoil with both the tactical AR and the scrambler?!
I would only dare use the tactical AR with a gal commando with all that recoil.

Disagree with the ability to spam after a charge shot from the Ion Pistol. This is what makes the gun fun now that it doesn't take forever to cool it. This would also make the officer completely useless. The only thing I think it should have is to not overheat at 3/8 charge, change it to 6/8, and would increase the RoF.

Just suggestions tossed around. Hoping to spring to life some ideas.
